Metra BNSF Line railcars decorated to promote Aurora’s new downtown light fest

To help the city of Aurora promote its new downtown light experience, known as “LUMENAURA,” two Metra railcars on the BNSF Line will be decorated on the inside with bright and colorful lights and will operate in regular service through the end of October.

LUMENAURA in downtown Aurora will feature mesmerizing light-and-sound-based installations, interactive street art, dazzling live entertainment, futuristic projection mapping, a variety of food and beverage options, and more. The free, family-friendly event will take place in downtown Aurora from Oct. 4 to Nov. 1, with a special three-day Fest Weekend Oct. 11-13 that will also feature a drone show, live entertainment, roving performers, live street art, food trucks, a beer garden and workshops.

“Because Aurora serves as the western terminus of the BNSF Line, and because we want to encourage people to ride Metra to the festival, we thought it would be fun to decorate two cars so festivalgoers can get an early peak into the experience they’ll find at the end of the line,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Jim Derwinski.
