Construction Notices

The below dates indicate the duration of construction projects, NOT how long Metra intends to keep the alternate schedules in effect. Please monitor alerts and check our homepage or the Ventra app for service updates.

To see which trains might be delayed by construction projects, look for the hardhat icon in the schedules for each line. 


BNSF: See below for effective construction dates

Effective April 1 until further notice: Weekday construction occurring between Cicero to Naperville. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Effective November 16: Weekend construction occurring between La Vergne and Cicero. Midday trains (In: 2004-2020 / Out: 2001-2015) may be delayed up to 10 minutes.


Metra Electric: See below for effective construction dates

Effective April 1 until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction occurring for the 147th St. Sibley station rehabilitation and a tie gang. Weekday midday trains (In: 100-334 / Out: 101-245) may be delayed 20 minutes. Weekend midday trains (In: 800-828 / Out: 8301-829) may be delayed up to 30 minutes.

Effective April 8 until further notice : Weekday and weekend evening construction occurring between 11th Place and University Park. Evening weekday trains (In: 138-150 / Out: 345-153) may experience delays up to 30 minutes. Evening weekend trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed 30 minutes.


Milwaukee District North: See below for effective construction dates

Effective November 12 through November 15: Weekday construction occurring near Grayland station for its station rehabilitation. Weekday and weekend midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Effective November 16 through November 17: Weekend construction occurring near Deerfield. Weekend midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Effective November 18 until November 24: Weekday and weekend construction occurring near Grayland. Weekday and weekend midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 10 minutes.


Milwaukee District West: See below for effective construction dates

Effective November 16 through November 22: Weekend and weekday construction occurring near Roselle and Elgin. Weekday and weekend midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.


North Central Service: See below for effective construction dates

Effective November 15: Friday construction occurring near River Grove. Weekday midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.


Rock Island: See below for effective construction dates

Effective March 18 until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction occurring between Gresham and Mokena. Weekday midday trains (In: 414-428 / Out: 605-619) may be delayed up to 15 minutes. Weekend trains (In: 202-122 / Out: 205-221) may be delayed up to 15 minutes.

Effective October 28 through November 6: Evening construction occurring along the RID line. Evening trains (In: 512-518 / Out: 511-517) may experience delays up to 10 minutes.


Southwest Service: See below for effective construction dates

Effective September 30 through November 17: Weekday construction occurring between Orland Park 179th and Manhattan. Weekday trains (In: 810-820 / Out: 805-813) may be delayed up to 10 minutes.


Union Pacific North: See below for effective construction dates

Effective November 11 through November 17: Weekday and weekend construction is occurring between Highland Park and Lake Bluff. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 25 minutes.

Effective November 18 through November 22: Weekday construction is occurring between Lake Bluff to Waukegan. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 25 minutes.


Union Pacific Northwest: See below for effective construction dates

Effective October 14 through November 22: Weekday and weekend construction occurring between Cary to Crystal Lake. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 20 minutes.

Effective November 16 through November 17: Weekend construction is occurring between Clybourn to Irving Park. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 20 minutes.


Union Pacific West: See below for effective construction dates

Effective November 16 through November 17: Weekend construction is occurring between West Chicago and La Fox. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.
