Chief Human Resources Officer
Mr. Buren was named Chief Human Resources Officer in October 2020. In this role, Mr. Buren is responsible for leading Metra’s people strategy. He also oversees all human resources functions, including succession planning, talent development, performance management, benefits, compensation, employee engagement, talent acquisition and EEO.
Mr. Buren comes to Metra with over 15 years of experience in Human Resources and Operations. Prior to joining Metra, he served as Vice President of Human Resources for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, where he was responsible for performance management, compensation & benefits, talent management, learning and development, employee relations and HRIS. Mr. Buren also served as a Director of Human Resources & Labor Relations, as well as Regional Vice President of Operations for the Midwest at MV Transportation, the largest private provider of paratransit services and the largest privately-owned transportation contracting firm in the United States.
Mr. Buren earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
