The 25th Annual HOKA One One Chicago Half Marathon and 5K are happening at Chicago’s Jackson Park this Sunday, Sept. 25, and Metra can help you get there and back with extra service on the Metra Electric Line.

Before the race, Metra will offer a 4:50 a.m. departure from Millennium Station, which arrives at the 63rd Street Station at 5:10 a.m. in plenty of time for participant check-in and the race’s 7 a.m. start. After the race, an extra train will depart 63rd Street Station at 10:11 a.m. to bring participants and spectators back to the city.

The half marathon course starts in historic Jackson Park, site of the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, and winds through the beautiful Hyde Park neighborhood and University of Chicago campus. The course then takes runners along Chicago’s South Lake Shore Drive, with views of Lake Michigan, the Chicago skyline and the Museum of Science and Industry campus before returning to Jackson Park and a triumphant finish at the golden Statue of the Republic.

Thanks to the Fair Transit South Cook Pilot sponsored by Cook County, all riders on the Metra Electric Line pay only the reduced fare rate for One-Way Tickets – just $2 between Millennium and 63rd. Please buy your tickets at Millennium or via the Ventra app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Plus, weekend Family Fares allow up to three children 11 and under to ride free with a fare-paying adult.
